"My mother has Motor Neurone disease and as we desired to keep her at home we acknowledged she required full time care. My father had been Mum’s sole carer, with help from my sister and I, for an extended period. Her condition has deteriorated and it is now too difficult for us to take care of her. Over some time we used a number of different agencies but found them to be very impersonal and very unreliable. There were often last minute cancellations from carers and at times a stranger would present themselves to Mum for their shifts, which was not acceptable. I was recommended Prestige by Bethlehem hospital following respite care they provided for Mum over a short period of time. I met with the owner of Prestige, Nick Mc Donald, and was immediately impressed with his professionalism, empathy and positive attitude. He put me at ease that he would be able to find great carers specifically for my Mums needs. I think the fact that Nick has a nursing background himself helps as he has first hand knowledge about what the person being cared for needs, which is the most important thing. The two main carers Prestige have found for my Mum are brilliant. My Mum lights up when they arrive for their shifts, they are kind and caring beyond their call of duty. The great care Mum is receiving has also enabled my Dad freedom to do the things he enjoys in life and having the security of knowing Mum is safe and well cared for. I would highly recommend Prestige for anyone looking for high quality care for a loved one." Melissa Duggan
"Prestige Home Healthcare have been looking after my dad for the last three years, he lives at home alone and needs help every now and again with cooking and cleaning. The carers from Prestige take him out sometimes as well, when he has appointments at the day centre, or just for a general outing. The carers at Prestige really do care, their level of support and service is dedicated and beyond professional and we are extremely happy." Michael Egan
"Twelve months ago we were lucky enough to find out about Prestige Home Healthcare. Our father was in a nursing home. He has Dementia and also had a bad pressure sore on his heel. We really wanted him home with his wife, our mother. We attempted this and only succeeded with the help of Prestige Home Healthcare. Dad had a wound that needed to be dressed everyday. We were very fortunate to have the same nurse the whole time this wound needed to be treated, we started with everyday then every second day until no treatment was needed. We were so lucky and blessed to have "Judith" a nurse attend to my dads wound. She was so lovely to my parents and went above and beyond what was required. We have also been so lucky with all the personal care staff that we had helping my parents, Kate, Marina, Anita and John. We had consistency of staff and at times also had emergency help with very little notice, when things were difficult at home. They were always willing to help mum at home with any task, it then gave my mum the chance to leave the house and have some time for herself. The staff would take my father for a walk and prepare him some lunch. My mother could only do this knowing he was in caring hands, people that showed compassion, and kindness. My mum being elderly and memory issues of her own, at times would have been difficult to deal with. Often canceling and confusing arrangements that had been made. At all times she was treated with kindness and loving care, so much patience and understanding was given. Thank you, Karen, Roz, and Colleen in the office. I personally can’t speak highly enough of Prestige Home Healthcare; they have supported my parents in this much needed time, but also supported me in many ways. We unfortunately, now again due to dads dementia, have placed him in low level accommodation. Karen has given very sound advice as what to look for in an aged care facility and has been very helpful throughout this process of looking. We are continuing to use Prestige Home Healthcare to help my mother visit my father and take him on an outing once a week. This has occurred because of the lovely relationship that has developed with my parent’s and one of the career’s. We as a family feel disappointment that we can’t continue to keep dad at home. However the consolation has been that he had an extra twelve months at home that we were not sure was possible. This has only happened because of his loving wife, and the wonderful staff and support we received from Prestige Home Healthcare, we are so grateful for this time." Alice Stubbs.
"We have taken on the services provided by Prestige in order for my father to be able to remain in his home. We heard about Prestige through a family friend with professional contact with aged services, they strongly recommended Prestige Home Healthcare. I don’t know what we would have done without them, the last thing we wanted was to have our father in a nursing home. The Prestige home carers have always acted in the most professional, but sensitive manner and have since become friends to my father and myself in their own right. I would have no hesitation in recommending the services of Prestige Home Healthcare." Jane Roberts
"My mother is 88 years old, legally blind, riddled with arthritis and becoming increasingly forgetful. A couple of years ago she moved into a unit in the same apartment complex as me and I have since become the person in charge of my mothers personal affairs. My sisters live in the country so are unable to assist in any way. I work in the city full time and so have found it increasingly difficult to ensure that mum is safe and well cared for in my absence. About one year ago we began utilising the local council services whom after a period I found unsatisfactory. This was predominantly because they tended to be unreliable as well as subject to late changes in schedules, which was poorly communicated to me and thus led to confusion. Several months ago I was walking my dog past the Prestige Home Healthcare offices on Bluff Road. I called in for a chat to discuss their services and was impressed with the service from day one. Tracey, one of the Prestige carers, visits my mother every weekday for one hour, from 4.30 to 5.30pm. Tracey has been fabulous, she does general housework and washing, and prepares mum’s dinner. I have been able to rely on her, which is exactly what I needed. Prestige has also been very flexible, taking mum to hospital on several occasions, at late notice, to have a skin graft dressed. I have simply emailed Prestige about any changes, and they have responded quickly. I would thoroughly recommend Prestige Home Healthcare to anyone, and have been raving about them to all my friends, and will continue to do so." Pat Felvus
"To Prestige Staff,
We would like to thank you for sending Louise to care for us. She is such a great help and the best carer. She is smart and easily looks after a blind person.
Thankyou again for your help and assistance.
From,
Peter and Taisa Demeduik"
